Let me start off by saying, since we are a late-war unit, we use the information on the Dog Tags printed from 00MAR1944. This is probably the easiest - and safest - style of the dog tag. Unlike preceding information, it has no home address on it, or next of kin. Without any further ranting, the information is as follows: LINE 1: LAST NAME FIRST NAME MIDDLE INITIAL LINE 2: SERIAL NUMBER TETANUS TOXOID BLOOD TYPE LINE 3: BLANK LINE 4: BLANK LINE 5: (Last space) RELIGION This is all kind of confusing, seeing as it's just a bunch of words organized into lines - I didn't want to use commas to confuse you even more ("do they really have commas?") So here are what my Dog Tags say: SISTI NICHOLAS J 12579304 T42 43 O
(15 spaces) CThe following are some good places for further information: users.skynet.be/jeeper/page82.html - Information on ID Tags through time. www.wephaus.com/proddetail.php?prod=294588&cat=50 - Dog Tag supplier. NOTE: Remember, use these and not modern ones! Modern Dog Tags have silencers, no 'notch' and a different chain. easy506th.netfirms.com/asn_gen.php - Serial Number Generator. Actually get a correct serial number with this! - Nick
