The Standard Gear of a 3rd ID Soldier
This is the standard that I would like everyone to get up to.

YOU CAN LOOK AT MOST, IF NOT ALL OF THE REQUIRED GEAR AND UNIFORMS AT ATTHEFRONT.COM

Underwear

Your standard issue underwear includes:
-OD tank top or White t-shirt, modern full color t-shirts are not exceptable
-OD Boxer Shorts
-Wool or cotton socks

Wool Uniform

This is the uniform that we will all wear. These will be worn tucked with a open faced black buckle. Wools can also be worn with or without the Field Jacket, depending on the weather and personal preference.
Wool Uniform Includes:
M1937 Wool Trousers w/ belt
M1937 Wool Shirt ( 3rd ID patches and your Pay Grade will be sewn on)

*NO HBTs*

Field Jackets

The 3rd ID in WWII during 1944 used the M41 Jacket, M43 Jacket, and the Tanker jacket. The M43 completely replaced the M41 in late 1944. In the unit, there should be a mix of M41 jackets and m43 jackets. Tanker jackets were primarily used by officers and should be kept to a minimum. Rank and 3ID patche will also be sewn on these.

Field Gear

The Standard Infantryman w/ M1 Garand or M1903 Sringfield:
M1923 Cartridge Belt
M1924 or M1910 first aid pouch
M1910 or M1941 Cover w/ Canteen and cup

Soldier With Thompson SMG:
M1936 Pistol Belt
M1924 or M1910 first aid pouch
M1910 or M1941 Cover w/ Canteen and cup
Thompson 5 cell Ammo Pouch or SMG Ammo Bag

*Shovels include: M1943 folding shovel or M1910 shovel.
*M3 gas Masks bags are exceptable to wear to carry extra gear
*The M1936 general Purpose bag is exceptable to wear
*Wire Cutters and pouches are to be kept to a minimum
*Pistols are only allowed for NCOs and officers
*BAR men wore the same as a regular infantry man only with a BAR belt and M1936 suspenders.
*No M1936 suspenders will be used except by a BAR man.
*The M36 Mussette bag was mainly used and issued to officers and will not be used.
*M1928 or M1910 Haversacks are optional because they were not usually worn during combat.
*OD and Khaki colored gear is excepted. Khaki will be the majority.

Footwear
M43 boots

Headwear
M1 Helmet, NO Metal clips or rear seam helmets
Overseas/ Garrisoon Cap, with or without blue piping
Jeep Cap (optional)

I suggest that everyone optain M43 Double Buckle Boots , if your haven't gotten boots yet. They were more prominent than leggings later in the war, and don't pose as many hassles.

Events

At events you can be able to carry extra belongings and food in one of the following approved bags:

-M3 Gas Mask Bag, the we very common within the 3rd ID for carry extra gear.

-Hobo Roll, You roll up you standard GI blanket or Half tent and sling it over your should with rope (rope for the shelter half seems to work best) *Was used extensively by the 3rd in the Southern France landings

-M1910/28 Haversack, not as common as the others but was still used

Be sure to bring foods to events, I suggest canned food and crackers, just take the labels off. Or ,better yet find repro rations here: reprorations.com

Try to get correct shovels to events if we have to dig in. You can attach the shovel to your belt or wrap it up in your hobo roll.

Will we always depict the 3rd Infantry as it was in Southern France, Mid-1944 (Summer); Strasborg Late 1944(Fall); Colmar Pocket 1945(Winter) or Germany 1945 (Spring)
